My husband and I moved to Normal, Illinois in 2012 from a small town in Missouri. Moving to Illinois was never part of our plan, but sometimes life takes unexpected turns. While the journey that brought us here was a bit of a roller coaster, we truly believe we ended up exactly where we were meant to be.
The name Living in Normal was inspired by the town we now call home, but the truth is our life has been anything but normal, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
I love sharing traditional-style ideas with timeless elegance, delicious recipes, and things that can stand the test of time. In a world that often moves too fast, I believe there is something special about slowing down and embracing the beauty of traditions, meaningful gatherings, and a well-loved recipe passed down through generations.

Preserving Traditions One Recipe at a Time
Some of my favorite memories were made in the kitchen alongside family members who believed food was one of the best ways to show love. My mom, grandmothers, and aunts spent countless hours cooking, baking, and gathering loved ones around the table. Those experiences shaped who I am and inspired many of the recipes you’ll find here today.
One of my greatest joys is sharing my grandma’s recipes and keeping those cherished dishes alive for future generations.
