The Most Amazing Mosquito Control

July 21, 2019 by Molly

If you suffer from an overload of mosquito bites every time you go outside, I have discovered the most amazing mosquito control that is an outdoor game changer. The best part of all—it does not include any kind of bug spray!!

Now that we are in the dog days of summer, it seems like the mosquitoes are relentless. I feel like every time I’m outside, the mosquitoes just flock to me. I haven’t decided if it’s because I’m so sweet or quite the opposite! Haha!

Bug Spray Just Won’t Cut It

Russ, Wrango, and I love to sit on our deck in the evenings enjoying drinks and sharing the events of our day. Within five minutes outside, I have mosquito bites. I have invested in lots of bug spray, even the organic kind without deet. However, I always feel like I have to shower before I go to bed so I don’t smell bug spray all night.

Don’t get me wrong, if I’m going for a walk or hanging out at the lake, organic bug spray is amazing. I just don’t want to put it on every time I want to enjoy my deck.

Thermacell Mosquito Repeller

After a lot of research and some trial and error, I have discovered the most amazing mosquito repeller. The Thermacell Patio Shield Halo Repeller sits on our deck, is only about eight inches tall, and keeps the mosquitoes away. I can 100 percent attest to the fact that I do not get one mosquito bite while using it.

This little gadget has seriously changed my view of summer and hanging out on our deck. It comes in a few different options, several colors, and uses butane. I got the Thermacell Patio Shield Halo Repeller because it uses four butane cartridges at once so it will last longer. The other versions only use one butane cartridge at a time, but they are very easy to change out.

A Few Tips When Using the Repeller

The repeller needs to be turned on about 10 minutes before you plan to sit outside. This is important. The only times I have actually ended up with mosquito bites is when I didn’t turn it on ahead of time.

It uses a little blue pad that is heated to extract whatever it is the bugs don’t like. If the pad doesn’t get hot, it doesn’t keep the mosquitoes away. Turning on the repeller is easy, you just have to remember to do it shortly before you go outside.

The repeller covers about 15 square feet. If you have a large deck, you may want to invest in more than one. Also, make sure to keep extra pads and butane so you don’t run out!

Enjoying Summer Without the Mosquitos

If you want to enjoy summer without getting a ton of mosquito bites, I highly recommend the Thermacell Patio Shield Halo Repeller. Honestly, this is the first summer I haven’t constantly been itching mosquito bites. Leave me a comment below if you try the Thermacell Patio Shield Halo Repeller for your mosquito control!

xoxo,
Molly

This looks like such a great product to have. We also enjoy sitting out in the yard on nice evenings with our kids, so this is a great option without having to spray down everyone each night. Thank you for your suggestion.

Thanks, Michelle! I totally agree about not having to spray down everyone. Once we go inside, I have to take a shower after using bug spray because the smell is so strong!

I’m excited to try this. I make the organic spray. I use it all of the time. I’d love to have the extra added protection though. Thanks for this.
