I have discovered a laundry game changer – dryer balls for essential oils. Have you heard of them? Until recently, neither had I. Dryer balls are a sustainable alternative to dryer sheets and fabric softeners. They cut down on drying time and will end up saving you a lot of money!

What are wool dryer balls?
Wool dryer balls are an environmentally friendly option to help you save time and money when doing laundry. They are made with 100% organic New Zealand wool and do not contain chemicals or dyes. They reduce drying time, wrinkles, static cling, and pet hair. The best part, wool balls should last for years because they will dry over 1000 loads of laundry! The cost: less than $8 for a six pack!!! Since fabric softener and dryer sheets are so expensive, these wool balls can help save a boatload on laundry costs.
Recommended usage
The directions say to use three or four dryer balls in your dryer for a medium sized load of laundry and six pieces for a large load. However, I consistently use only three wool dryer balls and the results are amazing. I even dry our king size bedding and only use three balls.
Another tip I learned, is to add a few drops of essential oil to each dryer ball. This gives your laundry a wonderful scent. I use clean scent for towels and most clothes. For our bedding, I like to use lavender scent because it’s calming.
Do they really work?
Yes, they really work!! I wash and dry our king-sized bedding, which includes a down comforter and heavy blankets. Technically, I’m supposed to dry clean the down comforter, but I don’t want to spend the time or money. Whenever I wash it and dry it with the wool balls, it has cut the drying time down by at least a third. Same with the heavy blankets. Also, our laundry is less wrinkled when I use the wool dryer balls, and the pet hair that used to stick to clothes and blankets is significantly reduced.
My husband works outside year-round. He wears layers of heavy clothing during the winter. Again, when I wash and dry these items, the drying time has been significantly cut down.
I’ve been using my wool dryer balls for about six months and they are still the same size as when I bought them. I do a lot of laundry because of the amount of dog hair in our house from our sweet boy Wrango. I wash sheets and blankets constantly, along with my husband’s many layers of clothing in the winter.

You’ve convinced me to try using wool dryer balls, especially if they can help to reduce pet hair.
And I love the idea of using essential oils with them!
