A back to school gift idea for a college student that’s complete with necessities and some fun ideas.
I want to share some exciting news about my sister—she is returning to college! Yay! I am so proud of her for taking this huge leap later in life.
Sometimes going back to college, after being out of the classroom for many years, can be challenging. Things change, and it’s hard to know what to expect.
A back-to-school care package is just what she needs.
To show my sister how proud I am of her for taking on this challenge, I put together a care package full of back to school essentials. If you read my Bag of Summer blog post, you know my sister and I don’t live nearby, and I love surprising her with fun gifts to let her know I’m thinking of her.
I work at a university, and asked some of the students already on campus what was on their “must have list” for the fall semester. After compiling my list, I was super excited to go shopping.
What I put in the back-to-school care package.
I started off by gathering all of the basics such as notebooks, folders, pens, pencils and highlighters. I also included a planner, post-it notes, notecards and a flash drive. My favorite item—a furry pencil bag! I absolutely adore this bag!
I tried to make sure that everything was color coordinated as much as possible. It was a little challenging with the highlighters, because those really only come in loud colors, and my theme was tan, pink and gold.
I also added in some chocolates and coffee for late night study sessions. My sister is diabetic, so I had to make sure the chocolate was sugar-free.
I put all of her goodies into the most adorable faux leather tote that I picked up at Nordstrom. This tote is big enough to hold her school supplies and her laptop if she wants to take it to class.
I know the decision to go back to school wasn’t an easy one for my sister. I hope the back-to-school care package will show her how happy I am for her.
